The Portage County Sheriff’s Office Drug and Violent Crime Unit (PCSODVCU), Portage County Sheriff’s Office P.A.C.E (Portage Aggressive Crime Enforcement) Unit, Portage County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, State of Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Ohio State Highway Patrol along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) conducted a joint drug interdiction operation in the northern part of Portage County. As a result of the interdiction operation, there were a total of 21 felony arrests, 1 felony warrant and over 35 felony charges and the individuals were booked into the Portage County Jail.
The following controlled substances and firearms were seized during the operation:
• $5,374.00 in U.S. Currency
• 687 grams of psilocybin mushrooms
• 116 Unit Doses of LSD
• 23 grams of MDMA
• 12 grams of Methamphetamine
• 12 grams of Ketamine
• 500 ml of Promethazine
• 3 grams of Cocaine
• 777 grams of THC products
• 8 prescription pill tablets
• 1 loaded firearm
The traffic stop with the seized firearm along with several different controlled substances will be referred to our partners at ATF for federal prosecution through the United States Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Ohio. The defendant who was in possession of the firearm is currently on bond through the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas on an indictment for rape.
