Pavliga Announces More than $3.88 Million in Funding for Portage County

State Rep. Gail Pavliga (R-Portage County) has revealed that over $3.88 million in funding has been allocated to various projects in Portage County. The funds are earmarked for significant developments including the construction of a new barrack at Camp James A. Garfield, renovations at the Kent State University Kent campus, and the establishment of new multi-use trails. The State Controlling Board gave the green light to these initiatives during a recent meeting.

In a statement, Pavliga expressed her enthusiasm about the impact of the funding, stating, "These funds will not only build new housing for our servicemen and women, enhance security, and improve the learning environment for students at Kent State, but also help facilitate economic growth and invest in our parks here in Portage County."

The breakdown of the approved items for Portage County includes $2,744,519 for the design and construction of barracks at Camp James A Garfield, $1,000,000 for a new building in Tallmadge to support business growth, $47,250 for the construction of 30 miles of multi-use trails, $43,900 for Kent Campus ADA Improvements Phase II, $31,500 for security equipment on KSU campuses, and $16,625 for renovations to the Twin Center at KSU.

The next State Controlling Board meeting is scheduled for May 6, 2024.
